Pro tips this Sunday August 14

There’s lots to do and see at the Taste Guernsey seafront sunday.

As well as picking up tips from some of Guernsey’s most exciting chefs why not taste this bombproof mayonnaise recipe which you can also sample on the day.

2 eggs
1 tbsp of mustard
2 tbsp of white vinegar
pinch of salt
500 ml sunflower oil (approximately)

it originalted with Australian masterchef’s gary Mehigan and came to us via great site Simone’s kitchen, Melina Bourge and Sueco.

Add mustard to eggs in bowl – no need to separate – add salt and vinegar plus a dash of oil then blend for about 10 seconds. Add further splashes of oil until the mayonnaise is the consistency you want. If it gets too thick you can thin it with lemon juice, vinegar or even water.

Now add in chopped herbs or spices to accompany  all sorts of Guernsey goodies.

A Thai twist for August

Demonstrations, tips and ideas for local produce are one of the favourite parts of Taste Guernsey seafront sundays. And at 3pm this Sunday on the pro stage 14th Tan Blondin plans to do a Thai style fish hummus using fresh local mackerel including Tan’s way of gutting the fish without cutting.

Alongside this Ken Ramoo will once again lead the cookery school enabling youngsters to cook up a storm using local produce in delicious recipes. We are regularly told of youngsters taking their first steps in the kitchen at home having  been motivated to try out one of Ken’s class recipes on the family.  This time the menu will include a crab omelette and you could join in by enrolling on the day. It’s free and delicious!
